Question RR & Stator Test Results

With everybody's input I did the following:

* CONNECTOR: replaced the melted plastic connector from RR to
Stator; joined all 6 wires at female connector to RR
[2 wires were incorrectly individually wired bypassing
the plastic connector]

* STATOR voltage: vac test of 3 yellow stator wires: approx 18 vac
at idle and approx 69 vac at 4k rpm for all 3 wires

* STATOR Resistance: meter set at 2k scale or 200 scale; red probe
on yellow wire; blk probe on engine case: no reading
all 3 wires--is this infinity?

* STATOR wires in front of battery: individually connected;
connections seem strong, clean, not burned, and
covered with shrink wrap

* REGULATOR Resistance: per Clymer diagram pages 294/295 no
readings at all between any G, B, M or A1, A2, A3
[Example: red probe on G and black probe on B]

What does this mean? What should I do next?

Thanx in advance!

Your stator is good but the regulator is toast. So it's good and bad news.

Hi Lance and Vulcanians--

I'm much rather replace the regulator than the stator, so the news is not too bad.

I'll order a replacement from the link you provided and post an update after I install it.

Many Thanx!

It`s sure nice when the good news is better than the bad news is bad, eh FR?

A question for you lance; The electrosport stator in that link is described as a heavy duty replacement. Does this one generate more amps than the OEM? I know that I have read posts identifying a source for a more powerful stator than Ma Kawi`s, and I think that this is it, but am not 100% sure. Do you know?

I believe it does have a higher output, by how much I don' know. I would give them a call and find out.

I'm replacing mine with a RMSTATOR I got off ebay. I haven't heard anything about them before on our site. I'll let you all know how it works out. It's also supposed to be better than stock.

The rmstator is an Electrex which is now Electrosport.
