Weird power outages

So I went to start my bike today. When I turned the key to on it had power, all the gauges lit up, but soon as I hit the starter button all I heard was a click and nothing then all the lites went off. When I would shake the bike some then it would come back and then I could start it. Now the only thing I have done recently was the RR. When I hit the button the click was on the right side, I think. Is there maybe a relay that could be going bad?

Check and clean ALL battery, solenoid, starter and ground connections. It sounds like your battery to frame connection is loose. Also check batery voltage and check starter mount bolts.

i had a similar event happen and it ended up being a loose ground right where the lead from the batt goes to the frame.... the tab broke off the wire in fact it was so intermitent it went on for weeks befor i pulled the batt and the wire actually fell thats how i found it check your grounds fuses and connections

I did just put the batt back in after winter. I haven't changed to the MF battery yet. I know naughty me. Where is the starter at exactly? I'll have to check that stuff out.

Starter is below the oil filter, the oil filter is below the radiator.

Ok so I remember where that is now. I may have been hearing the solenoid clicking, but if the power connection wasn't strong it wouldn't work. but why would all the lites go out. and then come right back on? The first thing I did was check the fuses. There are only 4 right? in the box on the left side. there arent any others are there? thats why i was thinking relays

A loose connection will cause this problem, pull the seat and check your connections.

Also if your battery has crapped out this will happen. The lights will come on with minimal amps, you hit the starter button then all dies.

I just went out and tried it bout 10 times, everytime not a problem. My meter is in my work truck so I'll have to wait to check things out.

a low batt well in my case befor i got the mf batt right befor it went out there was enough juice for the starterr but not enough to fire the ignition system and it was usually in the am when i had the problem... I'd pull the seat and take a 10 mm with u and make sure all the bolts are tight the two on the batt the one on the frame the two on the sylenoide under the right cover (I think) and the endine to frame (this one will be an 8mm at the engine) and the wire connecting to the starter if i had to guess you will find it under the seat
