Brake Lights post "incident"
Thanks to a distracted driver I took a little spill. Nothing too serious - broke my windshield and plastic saddle bag and bent my brake pedal. Now my brakes lights do not work - neither the hand lever nor the foot pedal. I replaced the bulbs and the tail lights work. The fuse is good. I'm trying to figure out the wiring. Do they separately go to the light, or do the foot pedal and hand lever join at some spot?

Sorry you got close-up and personal with the pavement. Hope nothing hurts too bad.
The front and rear brake switches join up somewhere in the wrapped-up wiring harness, and emerge as one wire at the brake light plug. It's the blue wire there. The brake light shares a ground with the running lights. What you might try if you don't have a way to check things with a voltmeter is temporarily swapping the blue and red wires at the tail light plug so that the voltage for the running lights (which you know is reaching the tail light module) is routing through the tail light wiring in the module and exiting the ground (which you also know is good). If your brake light doesn't illuminate when you turn the ignition on, then you've narrowed it down to a broken wire in the tail light module. Otherwise you're going to have to go digging in the harness, or run a new wire alongside the existing harness.
Good luck!
