Angry Frustrated::Headlight Still Out

Howdy Folks --

I need your help. My headlight is still out. (I restarted this thread from the General Discussion)

HISTORY:

* About 1 week ago blew main fuse and replaced it
* Bike ran fine after main fuse replacement but headlight was out
* Checked all fuses--they're all ok
* Cleaned connections on RLU (Reserve Lighting Unit) back of battery box
* Replaced headlight bulb and checked for frayed wires inside headlight
* Visually checked for frayed wires on harness around battery area

How can I get the headlight to work so I can RIDE AGAIN!!

Thanx in advance!

Have you checked the ignition switch and the start button? Remove HL fuse and with switch on check to see if th HL fuse socket has power. You may have a JB problem.

I just finished doing a search on your problem through the forum....90% of people with your problem replaced the JB and fixed the issue...the other 10% had fried stators. So I would check the blue wire coming out of the JB for VDC, if it is anything less than your battery voltage then the JB is defective. If it is Battery Voltage then make sure you are getting the correct voltage out of the RLU.

inside the headlight bucket there are two open sockets, one is ground, one is hot (W/L). make a jumper wire and hook it up to the hot (W/L) connector on one end then jump it to the R/Y connector. (Unplug the R/Y wire before connecting the jumper wire.)

Smile Junction Box Culprit--

Hey Lance and Slim --

You guys were right on the money!!!!

It's a JB (Junction Box) problem. The HL fuse socket has no power, but all of the other sockets do.

I have the part# off of the JB: 26021-1064. Should I replace the JB with a new or used one?

You folks are amazing!!!!!

Either one will be fine, it's your choice. A new on will be around $115.00 and used about half of that.

if the used one seams to be a dud...you can open up both the JB's and unsolder the relays and diodes and put them onto the other board...wich ever board looks better.

That used one says it has been tested, did you check the stator voltage?
