test results, any help and thoughts are much appreciated

ok, so I am no electrician by any means, a decent backyard mechanic but not on bikes.
my bike was losing its charge somewhere so I cleaned all the contacts I could find. battery terminals, frame groundings, starter wire and wires to the little thing between the positive cable and the starter (couldnt find what it was called in my book).
with a full charged agm maintenance free battery from autozone, bought in the last month of riding last year end of november first of december here are my test results.
with my meter set on 20 dcv

battery before starting= 12.68

with headlight on
idle 11.98
2000 rpm's 12.0
3000 rpm's 12.04

with headlight off (fuse pulled)
idle 12.04
2000 rpm's 12.7
3000 rpm's 12.7
4000 rpm's 12.8

after I shut it off after testing it 10 minutes of running battery tested 12.47 so it looks like it lost a little in that bit of time.

the headlight doesn't seem to get brighter when I rev the engine either.
can anyone tell from this if it is the rr, stator or is there other tests I should try before replacing anything.
ready to get on the road especially with the extra hour of daylight we just got and I found out I'm getting transferred to another store in april which is 66 miles one way and plan on doing most of those trips on my baby again and not in a cage.
thanks for all your help in advance! but everyone is probably out riding right now. I would be!!!!!!!

Doesn't appear you are charging, pull the plug on the R/R and set your MM on AC Volts. Start the bike and test the three yellow wires, 2 at a time and see if your stator is working, might be your R/R is fried.

remember when doing this to set your mm to volts ac not dc...the mm won't read right on dc...also another check would be to make sure you are getting higer voltage out of the r/r while bike is running.

it almost sounds like a junction box prob like I had last year.

While you're in there, check from each yellow wire to the engine case. Try it cold first, should read infinite on higher resistance scale on the meter from each yellow lead to engine case. If they are all good, try same thing again on a hot engine. The insulation can work when cold, then when it gets hot and pliable, it can break down.

My bet is your stator went and took the r/r with it.

here is a pic of my multimeter, to test the regulator the book says to set the meter at 100 ohms, can someone tell me which setting I should use on this meter and should the battery be connected when I do this? and am I connecting to the regulator itself. I dont understand these meters to well. so starting at off and going clockwise which setting should I use, thanks a lot. I am so ready to ride but am afraid it could be awhile if I dont get my charging issue resolved. I so do not want to take it to a shop.

Yours does not have a 100 ohm setting, just set it at 200. Turn pointer 180 degrees from off. The battery can be connected.

I had some issues with my bike's charging system shortly after I bought it. My saga is recorded here. I got some really good advice, maybe something in that thread can help you out.

Good luck.

I smile 'cause I don't know what the h*ll is going on.
