Cool 1985 VN700 With TONS of EXTRA parts

Well, the time has come that I don't have the time to play with Priscilla anymore. With a very time consuming job and a 6 month old...plus the fact that my bike is stored 50 miles from where I live (I live in a co-op that does not allow motorcycles), I'm going to let her go until we can get a house where I can give a bike my full attention (don't worry, the website isn't going anywhere!)

So.....whadda-we got here?

1985 Kawasaki VN700

I bought this bike about a year and half ago and stripped her down and did a minor restoration on it. She was in fair shape when I bought her and I'd say she is in good shape now. I'd say she is realistically 80%-85% done. She does need a bit of TLC to complete her and bring her back to her former glory.

The bike looks pretty good in the pictures. Admittedly, it is not as cherry as the pictures suggest, but its also nothing to be ashamed of either.

Some upgrades that were made to the girl:
  • 1993 Tank and Fenders (bluish green or whatever that color is called)
  • Chrome accents on tank and fenders
  • V&H Cruizers (rode twice since installed)
  • NEW Kevlar Clutch and Clutch cable
  • Chrome Side Covers
  • Chrome Reservoir Cover

EXTRAS that are included with the bike (no, I won't sell them separately, sorry!)

  • BRAND NEW METZLERS!!!!

  • Leather Saddle bags and supports

  • Cut down windshield

  • BRAND NEW Crash Bar

Not pictured: NEW Steibel horn still in the box

Oh, a price!

$1,000

That's it! The extra parts alone practically cover that amount. So buy the parts, get a free bike!

It's located in East Northport NY (Long Island). I can show it after 6pm on weekdays (I work close by) and anytime on weekends (though I do have to drive 50 miles on the weekends to see it, so please make sure you show up!)

It will start with the aid of a charger. It has a new maintenance free battery, but I didn't keep it on the trickle charger at all during the winter (dope!). Oh, the trickle charger is included too.

It runs and drives, but plan on picking it up on a trailer. I don't want the bike to die at a stoplight and you need to jump it (with no-one in sight to assist).

Problems that are known:

Not really much. It does rattle a bit on the lower end. I did the Grambo trick last year and it got rid of the noise, but its slowly creeping back. A rebuilt ACCT should cover it.

Not sure if the fan is working or not. I saw the wires to the sensor were cut and I soldered them back together, never did see it turn though. I think the same sensor runs the temp gauge, so that may not work either.

I'm trying to think if there's really much else. It'll basically be a good bike with a full weekend of work or a couple of part-time weekends. So if you want an extra VN or one for your wife/husband...or even one to just tool around on or do major crazy mods to....here's the one for you.

You at all interested in parting out some of the parts? Like the gas tank and fenders?
