Lots and lots of parts

Hi all,

In an effort to put some extra money at my quickly approaching school loan payments, and also to clear some space in the basement, and also to get a little money to put into my bike, I'll be putting a bunch of parts up for sale. I have a '85 700 in boxes, as well as an '86. that's half in boxes, half covered.

Anyways, I'd like to let people put out requests if there are certain parts they need. A few things that come to mind are

half dismantled 750cc engine. Balancer slipped out and I tore it down to get the case welded. I did, but at the time thought it wise to keep tearing her down and make sure everything was clean. Then I realized the work it takes to reassemble an engine, and I couldn't work on it at my house, lost motivation, etc. The small parts from that are bagged and labeled, with enough residual oil to keep them in good shape.

The starter motor on this engine is good.

Just about an entire black 700cc engine. Came on the parts bike seized. Has plenty of good parts, would be willing to pull parts from it, as well as the other engine. Some of the engine paint is wearing. I could test its starter

Black front bevel gear case from same bike.

Carbs for the 700. They are dirty, but I can clean them if someone is interested. Should work on the 750 with new needles and jets. Last time I had fuel in them they didn't leak, but I could try to bench test them just to make sure

Final drive and driveshaft.

Radiator and fan

I could pull the entire wiring harness from the '86

black fenders

exhaust parts

rims/tires. I would not recommend riding on the rubber, since I don't know how old it is, although the set of spitfires don't seem to be in such bad shape. I'm thinking hard/brittle though. I could pull the rubber off. Should be a good set of rotors in there too.

Seat

Factory luggage rack and high passenger backrest. Might have a good toolbox but no lock for it.

handlebars, controls, and triple trees. The control cables are probably not worth it.

forks (should probably get new seals and definitely oil. I have done that several times and could freshen them up for somebody who doesn't want to pull forks apart)

Pegs, levers, stands, switches, electrics...

And just about anything else you can find on these bikes.

I'll have to get a paypal account going, and I'm working on taking pictures. I'd like to offer the parts to people on the forum before putting them on ebay. I'll probably base my prices on ebay, but would like to offer them a little cheaper for all of you wonderful forum members. I'll also try to discount large orders, and will consider your offers on parts.

Also will consider trades for a voltage gauge, vacuum gauges, slip-ons, an upgraded R/R, or maybe something else that you want to get rid of.

Happy hunting,
-Luca

If it ain't broke... well I'm sure I can find something that is

My 85 came with a travelcade seat that I just loved. Firmer, no buttonholes, looks good with the low bars. I put it on my 86 the other day. I did it by adding the mounting bracket for the 86.

The bracket is a metal plate that sits on the back of the seat. Therefore, any seat that fits the 86 should fit on an 85 by removing the mounting bracket. The bracket is held in by two machine screws. If you already have a seat, give it a shot. If you are still looking for a seat, I now have one from the 86 without the bracket. I actually have another one with the bracket too. Might be some small rips. I'll let you know if there are. My mother is also a seamstress and I can have her close them up. She made an awesome cover for my brother's nighthawk 650 seat.

Tom,

I have 2 stock swing arm caps. They are chrome looking, but pretty sure they are plastic. Can verify when it's not pouring outside. Bike Bandit wants about $12.50 a piece. $22 gets both of mine flat rate shipped to New Jersey. I could take pics if you'd like.

k9sarky, I'm working on figuring out price and shipping, as well as getting pictures.

Journey, I already sold the left driver footpeg off of the '86. I'll see if the 85 has the same pegs. Even if they are different, I could see if they fit the brackets and get pictures. They'd still be a matching set And are you sure that you only need the peg and not the bracket too?

I'm headed out to play some pool, I'll get back to everyone soon.
