Need an ignition hockey puck/switch

I'm wondering what I should expect to pay for an ignition hockey puck or switch with the hockey puck attached, and if maybe someone here has one available.

Didn't see any on ebay and I probably can't afford a new one.

One of the tabs on mine is broken and it causes a false contact. So I gotta find the "sweet spot" with the key so the bike will start. However, I expect a bump could shake the key and make the bike turn off.

ignition puck

My bike is starting to do something similar to what Ceal was describing. I have to wiggle the key or cycle it off/on(sometimes) to get it to start. Is this puck the doohiggie I need? And if so Raker do you still have the part?

It might be. You could check out yours to make it work or you can just buy another one.

Mine did this same thing when I bought it but I managed to make it work again by taking apart the hockey puck and cleaning all the contacts and stretching out the little springs a bit. When I put it back together and back on the bike it worked great for quite a while (I guess almost a year).

I took it off again because of another problem that I thought might have to do with the same part (and it didn't) and when I did I broke the plastic housing... so that's why I had to look for another.

So you could fix yours, but it's definitely simpler to just swap it out.

In my case, after I bought the one from Cindy I just used super glue on mine to see if I could make it work in the mean time that the newer one got here. It's perfect now. But now if anything goes wrong I can't open it up cause I glued it, so if anything happens I will have the newer one to put in

It's easy for road grime to get in there, Admiral, so I'd go ahead and pull it apart as Ceal recommended and clean everything up. I had similar symptoms and cleaning the contacts, making sure the screws for the hockey puck were seated properly, etc. fixed the problem. It's the least expensive way to start, anyway!

Yes Admiral, I still have it, and it's in excellent shape with the key. I'm not sure what the going price is, so shoot me an offer, and we can go from there. I have paypal, and I will ship it priority with insurance, and I think it will fit in a small box, so shipping will be around $6.00
e-mail is racer_bill at hotmail dot com, so shoot me an e-mail if it's easier.

Bit of advice if you do open up yours... Open it over a table and do it as slow as you can. There's 3 springs, a ball bearing and 3 contacts inside that can jump out of there if you're not careful. It happened to me the first time and I had no idea at all what had jumped out lol so I was lucky to find it all again.
