Travel Trunk from Sears $33

I saw this on www.dealnews.com this morning (4/30/2010). I don't work for Sears and have no idea if this unit could even be used on a vulcan 750. I am just passing the information along.

This looks like something I can use. But I don't have a luggage rack. Looks nice.

Looks like it's designed to mount to a luggage rack. I assume the integral backrest is for the passenger (on bikes that don't already have a backrest).

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

It does not seem to fit the stock 750 very well, huh? Looks like a good deal though, any ideas on easy mods to make it fit?

If anyone picks one of these up, please let us know how it all works out....

I recently bought the Sears large box ($42) for my Concours 14. Just installed it this week. I've only used it once, but it works great so far. A number of members on the Concours forum bought them and everyone agrees that they are a great value.

This morning, I quickly fit it up to the VN750 on my Kaw luggage rack just to check. Looks like it will work with some minor modifications. It needs to be raised a little (an inch or so) to keep the backrest on the lid from hitting the bike backrest when opening the lid. You can take the backrest off the lid since you won't need it anyway, but I still think you would need to put a spacer between the luggage rack and the mounting plate in order to completely open the lid. The mounting plate and channels for clamping to the luggage rack have a number of slotted holes, so I believe it can be mounted without any problem. Although you may need to use longer bolts depending on the spacer thickness.

Overall this is a great deal even if you only use it occasionally for long trips.

acting on impulse I bought one last night. should be here in a couple days. I do have a luggage rack. Anything has to be better than the duffel I've been using. Even if it's fugly I'm not out a pile of money here.
