Scintillating Skalding Fire-Sale

OK - I'm going to start parting out an old 86 that I rode for awhile.

The story goes like this - I had one good 86 and bought a basket case '86 for parts. But the more I looked at the basket case, the more I thought I could fix her up. And so I did. I used lots of marine putty and so forth.

However, I ended up frying the stator on the good '86. Then while considering what to do, someone knocked over the fixed basket-case while she was standing in a parking spot, snapping the signal lights, bending the handlebars, etc.

So I took most of the good stuff, and put it on the basketcase '86. While I did, I noticed there were cracks(!?!) around the shock mount on the final drive. And so I figured - just too much work to fix part by part at this point.

Then the stator went on the basketcase. So I replaced it.

What I have left is my original 86, minus handlebars, turn signals, a stator, a water pump, a final drive. Given all of this, I don't want to go through the trouble of reassembling an entire vn750 and buying extra parts. It was nice to have the second bike (really nice!) but it's time to get rid of this extra stuff in my garage.

It has an eh set of carbs, and most of the electrical bits. I also have, more or less, the whole engine, which I'd part out on request, or ship large chunks of. I also have the complete exhaust system. I also have an extra brake system, calipers and all.

Perhaps most valuable, I have a GOOD frame, with a valid FL title. Just add parts and drive.

Extra goodies include:
  • An Engine Guard (kinda rusty, but wire-wheel/paintable).
  • An Extended Back Rest (with pads. Also with rails if you need them).
  • A DIY Seat with a Volvo headrest-turned-back-rest (perhaps more valuable just for a seat pan to remod if you want to try your hand at making your own custom seat).

My basic thought is that if you need something, let me know and I'll beat whatever ebay price you find (within reason - I'm not selling the carbs for $5). I'll post up pics and whatnot if anyone is curious. With the exception of the back rest, none of this is super pretty stuff. But it's solid, and perfect if you want to replace something or experiment with modding parts.

I will also swap. (Although I doubt many of these will be lying about.)

I am looking for:
LED tail-light/Turn signals.
Floorboards
Fork Brace
Motorcycle cover.

Anyway - PM me if you have anything in mind.

Good Riding All,

Skalding

26K on the motor. She ran fine till the stator went out, then I cannibalized the water pump (impeller out of her. So she'd need those parts and new gaskets. Everything else should be good though.

Bump.

I've sold the engine guard, the extended back rest, the seat pan, and someone has dibs on the left and right driver foot controls. Possibly they'll also want the triple tree and the forks.

That leaves me with a lot of odds and ends; tTree, Forks, tank, electronics, fenders, side covers, headlight bucket, horns, badges, wheels, and most of the engine. Some are not in the greatest shape, but I'd rather sell something for $5 than junk it. If you're looking for replacement or project parts, PM me.

Hey. I'm very interested in the carburetor, if you still have it. Let me know how much you want for it. Thanks.
