A trip to Pismo Beach (7/17-7/29)

I thought it was about time to take the Vulcan on a proper scenic cruise since I had put all this work into her, so the wife and I chose a 2 day stay at Pismo beach as our destination. Apparently you can rent ATVs and ride on certain parts of the beach there (cool!). If the sand is dense enough I'll try to sneak the Vulcan on the beach for some killer pictures.

The journey is about 600 miles total along Pacific Coast Highway; About 250 miles each way from home to the hotel, and about 100 miles of riding to and from Hearst castle from the hotel on day 2. Not the longest of hauls, but my wife has only been riding for a few months so I do not want to go over 4 or so hours of saddle time per day.

I plan to take a decent number of videos and pictures, so I'll update this thread with a ride report; possibly from the hotel room every evening.

Until then,

What a fun trip! We totalled about 700 miles or so, and I am sure glad I had the mustang seat. I'd have died on the stocker.

The only "incident" occurred on the first hour of the Journey; ended up getting POOGS after doing 85 for an hour strait. It didn't happen the remainder of the journey though, but definitely made my heart jump for a sec.

Here's a picture that sums the trip up.

I used a T-Bag Tail Bag, like this one, but I put it on backwards in the passenger area of the seat so I could use it as a backrest. It was really comfortable!

I used it like this..

We also used a smaller Cortech tail bag on my wife's bike for the rest of the stuff.

That's a nice looking bag. I have an old Tbags bag (similar size and shape) but it doesn't have any real rigidity to it. The person I bought it from said it was made (?) for a specific type bike with sissy bar - the "sleeve" meant to fit over the back rest doesn't fit the backrest on the VN750 - so I just have to strap it on all over the place

Anyway - it serves it's purpose - and I do what you did - put it on the passenger seat and use it as a backrest.

Nice bag though - looks roomy
