Boo Benefit - Jefferson TX - 2011

I went to the Boo Benefit (boobenefit.org) last weekend in Jefferson Texas. This was my first time to attend (only had my bike a few months). It was a good experience - about 3 to 4 hours ride, packed with camping gear (well a tent and sleeping bag anyway).

A lot of bikes - not like a giant rally but respectable. 95% were harleys I'd say. Some custom bikes, a few sport bikes and a small number of metric cruisers.

Aside from mine - I only saw two other VN750s - but never met the owners.

It was interesting and a good time.

I haven't made that one yet, altho several of our Texas VROC members have. Don't think any of 'em did this year; nobody posted anything, anyway. I do know some of 'em are planning on the Lone Star Rally in Galveston next month.

I would love to make the one in Galveston. But I don't think I will get to.

I dunno yet if I'm gonna lay off work to make it or not; I've got the 3rd and 6th off, anyway, but all the good stuff's goin' on the 4th and 5th.

At least a half dozen or so Texas VROC (Vulcan Riders and Owners Club) members are gonna be there, including a couple from the Dallas area and Tyler, and even one from Laredo. I missed the MIM (Meet In the Middle) this weekend, the annual TXVROC ride and party weekend, and it'd be good to see the guys and gals again.

What is the MIM? I have never heard of that.

Actually - I don't yet know of many rides/rallys/get-togethers

Unless you're a member of Texas VROC, you prolly wouldn't have heard of it. It's (M)eet (I)n the (M)iddle, a kind of annual mini-gathering of TXVROC members and friends at the home of one of our members in the Austin area. Food, family, and riding for two days, with a feast and live music on Saturday night. 3rd weekend in October every year.

Come on over; we've got members all over the state. We all get together several times a year; we've got MCHs (MeetChaHalfway) where someone suggests a place for lunch, and everybody that can make it meets there just to visit and eat. There was even one that was an overnighter to Abilene, where those that went got to tour the B-1 facility at Dyess AFB, where one of our members works. Several went from the Houston area, Tyler, Austin, Dallas, and my brother and his wife from Kerrville.
