Lil Ride/Trip report-E. Tn., W. N.C., & N. Ga. W/ a Pic or 2 ---

Left out Mon. and went to E. Tn., Campbell & Claiborne Co. areas, and got with a buddy. ... We rode out to Claiborne Co., where we got on a ferry and crossed Norris lake to Union Co. where my folks were driven out of when the lake was raised (1935/36)... We rode around quite a bit in the back woods area and returned to Campbell Co. via a longer route...

This is him as we were crossing on the ferry...

Taylor's Grove Church & Cem., in the Sharps Chapel area of Union Co. where I have grandparents & aunts & uncles burried. ...

On Tues. We left the E. Tn area via Maryville, and on to Tellico Plains & the Cherahala Skyway and out of Tellico plains thru Robbinsville N.C.... Then on down to N. Ga. & N. S.C. and rode a good bit of the Moonshiner 28 back North to E. Tn. ...
This is somewhere on or near the Moonshiner 28. (CRS)...

The weather forcast changed a bit and they were giving 60% rain for Thu. so I decided to cut it a day short and return home on Wed. ...

This is an overlook on the way home between Crossville Tn. & Sparta off US 70. ... I was just too tired to cross over the rail and get the better shot...lol...

Anyway I had a good but tireing 914 mi. Ride/Trip. ......

Old Dog, I was hoping to be able to get up with you this year before the leaves fall and ride the Moonshiner 28 and a few other great trails up that way. Ever sense the April tornadoes I have been working 60+ hr weeks. Was 90 per week for 6 weeks of it. Started out doing repairs and that put my other jobs asigned to me behind, plus the other service calls throwed in the mix. Not complaining a bit though, could be the other way around. Maybe before it gets cold we could get together. Got a 900 seat coming Friday to try out to see if my butt could handle more than 3 hr.s riding per day. The extra wideth will be a blessing

Chuck, that sounds like me in the 80s, I bought a new bass boat and was jumping to fish all spring, wham got put on 7-12s at Brown's Ferry and only got by home about once a week for laundry and back to the motel at Athens...
Seems like all it did was make Uncle Sam a happy camper, and me a sad Old Dog...lol...
I'll tell you one thing though, that 914 mi. in 3 days wore me out, but I did enjoy it...
I wouldn't care to do the Moonshiner 28 all the way, but as on this trip, I really don't care for the Dragon anymore, drove it to work at Fontana in the 80s, and have rode it a couple of times lately, I actually like the Cherahala better, and its about 40 mi. long, I think the Moonshiner 28 is better also and somewhere near 100 mi. ...lol...

The Monnshiner, by the map, is a long ride. Haven't rode any of it so I'm sure if fades alittle as it goes. There is no way I could do that long of a ride in one week with out a seat designed for my rear. I got a 900 seat in the mail today. Gonna take it to a guy that redoes cycle seats my see what he can do with the padding.

/\ Chuck, it's only 103-4 mi., we didn't ride it all, but it would be an easy day's ride, and maybe if you wanted to make a harder day you could add the Dragon or the Cherahala Skyway if you came out on the North end on US 129 (Dragon)... I hope to do it again sometime shortly... Here is the map...
