Surreal....

Riding the Vulcan home from the 'ol job 10pm...its dark and all I hear is the thrum of that Vulcan motor.I see groups of taillights headed NORTH ahead of me...maybe 20-25 on this two lane "country" road, fellow humans running from Irma.Normally I see 1-2 at most this time of night...not 20+...Surreal.

I can't believe they closed the schools here just south of Charlotte North Carolina. It's raining. They closed for rain. I go home for lunch, kids everywhere playing outside. We have become panicky and soft. That's scarier than any hurricane.

Most of my neighborhood in Orlando looked like that Monday morning. But luckily no serious damage.
By Monday afternoon we had nice neat piles of branches old fences and debris by everyone's driveway waiting for pickup.

I live at a major intersection, traffic lights were out for >24 hours, we averaged a tire squeal/horn honk every ten mins and a crash an hour as people just ignored the intersection and blew through. I'll bet the FD and Police spent more time sorting those idiots outr than dealing with floods or busted roofs.
