Cool Black Engine

This isn't a real important question but I'm courious I bought a 1990 vulcan 750 that has a Black engine. The only books I find shows the engine as neutrol color alumium. Has anyone got an idea as why?

Your PO could have painted it black or they put in a VN700 engine.
