First long ride of the season

I have had the bike back together for a few weeks now. This past weekend was the first chance I've had to get it out on the highway and head out. It preformed very well I thought. Seems like maybe I didn't screw it all to hell by working on it myself!

Anyway, with me, my gf, and all our stuff, we loaded the bike down with about 400#. It was easily doing 85mph and was at about 5500rpms. I was also getting about 140 miles per tank. Best of all the front and back tire stayed on and the fan works! #winning, right?

Sounds like a good weekend! Between helping a friend shop for a new bike on Saturday, and a run up to Sugar Loaf NY on Sunday with my girl riding shotgun - I did about 275 miles this weekend. I tend to fill up at about 150 miles and she usually takes 2.5-3.0 gallons.

It's in the southern end of NY State, less than 30min north of NJ. went through Vernon NJ and Warwick NY on the way.

It's a little town/village with a lot of small shops. They're a very artsy/earthy/holistic type around there. Art galleries, tea/herb shops, second-hand shops - stuff like that. Just kind wandered around checking stuff out for a while, and they had a lot of street vendors for the holiday too.

After we were done there, only 10min back to Warwick. A more conventional small town with several good choices for eats. Had one of the best brisket sandwiches ever...

i have been itching for a while. i was a little worried about the crowds leaving the City on Friday, but it wasnt bad. and getting back in to the City was even easier on Tuesday. i think i may head up to Sleepy Hollow or Tarrytown Lakes Park this weekend. i will be happy when i get some highway pegs, but for now im just really glad i didnt screw her up!
