unknown tube

I was cleaning the bike and found a 1/4 inch plastic tube hanging and melted fron the exhaust.Traced it and found it went behind the junction to the battery area.Anyone know whats it for and what I should do if anything?Bike is running great .Thanks

It could be the battery over flow tube.

I'd say the battery overflow. This can be cured by installing a maintenence free battery. No more tube.
