The wierdest thing happened at Wal-Mart...

My son took my 1997 motorcycle to Wal-Mart to pick up some oil for his P/U and parked the bike in the designated area for motorcycles. An 18-wheeler pulled into the parking lot and made a wide swing to make a turn and ran smooth over the parked bike. Totaled the bike completely....

I filed a claim and thought all was lost because I didn't have replacement insurance on the bike and I didn't think the trucker's insurance would even do anything about it but...

One week later an 18-wheeler pulled up in front of my house and dropped off a 1997 VN750 that looked just like my old bike without the tire marks and crushed motor and frame with only 3840 miles on it and it runs great. Handed me the title and let me keep the old bike for parts. You can hardly tell the old bike from the new one except for some scratcheas on the seat and saddlebags.

Out of VN750s...
On to bigger and better things!

Was it a Wal-mart trailer that ran it over, or just some trucker pulling in for something? Glad to hear about your new ride. Any pics of the dead one?

Man, this was one step away from one of those sitcom scenarios where someone is house-siting for a friend, accidentally lets their pet escape and get into some kind of fatal accident, and then decides to quietly substitute the animal with a physical lookalike that acts completely differently.

Like if your son had borrowed your bike without asking, and you were away in Europe on vacation... And came back 2 weeks later with a '97 VN750 with similar mileage but some funny performance mod to it that ends up catching you by surprise. ("What the... Since when did I actually HAVE a SIXTH GEAR??!")

Questions-

Was it a Wal-Mart truck that creamed it??

And who was it that replaced it and delivered it??

(I'm not even gonna ask how the dumb f**k couldn't see it parked there in the wide open. )

*EDIT*

BTW, how 'bout some pics? Of both...

My second thought was, "Wow that's cool that he replaced it."

But my first thought was, "Wal-Mart has a designated area for motorcycles?"

Ditto!

Who ultimately replaced the bike? Insurance or the truck company? For that matter, what insurance company, and what trucking company? I'm thinking that when it's time to put my ride out to pasture, I might just try to find another one of those trucks and toss the bike under it!!
