Engine Number??

I bought a new bike earlier this week and went to do the DMV title transfer. Waited a half hour in the line only to be told I need to document the engine number on the title.

I look all over the engine and couldn't find anything that resembled a number other than a 3 character stamp code KHI. Does anyone know if this is the engine number or if there is some other location I have missed??

It is on the right side, behind the rear cylinder, directly under the ACCT.

If you need more clues
Look on the top of a flat boss, behind the clutch cover, and between the black cover on the coolant overflow bottle and the rear cylinder.

It may be easier to find and read if you use a flashlight.

Could they be in different places? I finally found it - at least I hope - on the right side almost mid engine. If you look under the exhaust and the frame tube where the engine hangs a little lower than the frame there was a flat surface with a number stamped on it.. I'll attach a pic if I can to show my location.

I cannot quite read the number in your photo, but it looks like it is similar in length and composition to my engine number, which is VN750AE002xxx.

Hope that helps.
