Bought a 2001vulcan 750 32000 miles on it. Payed 150 dollars for it got good tires man said he was having trouble getting it to idle. I got it cleaned carbs. Cleaned tank. Man said he put 3000 miles on it he bought it used also. Had no trouble out of it till wouldn't idle one day he sat it up for a year. I had a battery off 4 wheeler on it plus boosting it off with my virago 250 it cranked up ran for few min but was needing carb. Set so I killed it and the next day went tried crank it again it back fired would not ever start. Confused but have not done a compression test yet any thing like maybe he battery being week or something that's causing it not to crank just backfire spit sputter. I even be gaining to wonder if it may jumped time. Any help I appreciate it. I have never own a Kawasaki have had intruder Suzuki few Hondas a Harley and Yamahas. What path do I take with this bike? Is it to many miles on it? Can I salvage this or is it worth my time . Thanks lucky 13!

Wow! I needed a translator to completely understand your post. Not being mean, but we need better typing to help. The reason it's not starting is the battery is not at full voltage. The backfiring is usually tied to that as well. As for idling, Turn the set screw all the way in then back out 1.5 to 2.5 turns. Check air cleaners, they may be breaking apart. Also check the splines before riding. Good luck.

Yes that I will do. These bikes must be very battery dependent. Thanks for the input.
