crazy speedometer

Well my speedometer work in certain way.The odometer rolls when riding,but the needle dont.I worked fine last few days,bike been park for 2 days,bring it out for a fill up of gas.now the needle stays on 0.pull the cablle out seems to be in all the way because the numbers roll.anyone else ever has this issue?.Please advice,any ideas welcome.

2002 Vulcan 750 Black & silver

Have you tried giving it a nudge. Slap the speedo case around a little bit.

yeah,first thing,but still the same.dont know if a new cable will help,beacuse the numbers turn but the needle dont.thank's for the advice.

Sounds like an internal speedo failure. If the odometer is still ticking, the springs that work the needle are shot. I've always replaced them at that point.

87 vn750at least that is what the frame #'s say

can u give a tip on how to,or is easier than it sounds,and where i can get those springs?.thank's

The speedo is a sealed unit, to get in there to repair anything you end up breaking more. They're made sealed to deter odometer tampering.

Thank's guys,don't know how,i rode the bike yesterday and now it is working fine,go figure.didn't do anything to it.just jump in and ride,thank's for the info anyway.
