I committed. Picture is of a '02 vn750 i picked up this week with 7k on it. Tires were origonal paid $900. Cover, helmet, some leather with it. I didnt test drive but trust the friend and did test it on starting fluid from a couple plugs.

I need to get the old gas out of tank and get the carbs cleaned out. PO has receipts were they were rebuilt a few years back but sittibg is never good.

I plan to read all the verses and ask a ton of questions!

Suuuuuuup. (Along with a tilted head and a slow chin lift towards the sky and back down. All the while maintaining a creepy stare, even at the peak of the chin lift, without once blinking)

If the tank is rusty, then you should top it off with metal rescue and let it soak for 24 hrs to remove the rust. Apple cider vinegar works too, but you need to follow it with baking soda and distill water to prevent flash rust.

Welcome

If it is running I would try Sea Foam for the carbs. I have had really good luck with the stuff. Another concern would be the tires. They are probably 14 years old. Its a whole new world, You will like the Vulcan.

Thanks. within the next day I'll do an oil change and remove gas tank to see whats up there.

Time to order an AGM maintenance free battery. By the time I'm done I would have been the same or cheaper to buy bike that was already GTG but I enjoy the process..

I am thrilled to say i got it running and idling by itself without choke - all thanks to the helpful answers to my umpteen threads/searches and the verses so far.

Great community here - i have much, much more to learn. I get to put in the new agm batt, new petcock, and do coolant change out this weekend and i am really looking forward to it!
