Starting/Clutch issues

I just got my bike, it has been sitting for 2 years. And I am trying to bring it back to life. The gas tank is getting re-keyed(no key for it, isnt the original) and and cleaned/lined next week. I cannot get it to turn over, I have a brand new battery installed. The clutch cable is really rough to pull even after lubing, and I have noticed by rolling around the garage on it that in gear with the clutch fully squeezed in that I can still feel some resistance. Is it possible that the clutch is not fully disengaged and this is the reason why it wont attempt to turn over?

That is possible if you are in gear and the clutch is not fully disengaged. It should still start in neutral, though.

I had/have the same syptoms, sort of. It is not always easy to change gears (1st to N, etc) without the bike running or rolling. Have not really had a problem since then, excep my personal concerns that my clutch lever grabs the friction zone wayyy too soon.
Does your neutral light come on? Have you changed the plugs?

Are you saying that when you try to start the bike, you get nothing? No clicking, no movement of the starter at all?
