Question noisy speedometer?

Hey guys, I was wondering If our tachs or speedos are proned to noises?

My engine is nice and quiet thanks to ape mccts, but when accelerating, I have a grinding noise that appears to be coming from my speedo, speedo cable, tach, or maybe the speedo gears down by the front wheel. I cant really pin point it...

Im 99% sure its not the engine, I cant hear it at idle, and if i pull in the clutch, and give er a rev job, i cant hear it.... only while accelerating.
has anyone else ever experienced this? I would try disconnecting the speedo cable to confirm it, or rule it out, but its really tight, and i dont wanna tear it up with channel locks, maybe some vice grips would break it loose? Any feedback would be splendid!!!
thanks guys

I had the same problem. I used vice grips to get the cable off, both ends and wiped it down (moisture got into the cable housing) and added new grease. I also greased the housing of both sides, this seemed to help for the most part. Though, if your bike was ever dropped, it could have cracked inside (because it's plastic) and that could cause a sound as well.
