Need a good mechanic North Jersey area (Bergen County)

Happy New Year guys and gals!!!

I was wondering if anyone was or can recommend a reliable mechanic in the North Jersey area. I really want to get my bike in order for the new year and it seems there has been one problem after another. I have limited mechanical knowledge, and while I have done a bunch with the help from friends and this forum I have hit a wall. I bought the bike from a mechanic shop that is supposedly reputable but he mislead me on many issues, and I had the bike checked at a different shop when I installed new tires and he also seemed to "miss" or not inform me of several issues. Even thou I bought it for a steal and was able to put about 2000 miles on it last season, I fell in love with my Vulcan, and think of it now as more than my first bike to get my feet wet with... While I have enjoyed learning my way around it, I spent more time in my garage than on the road and would like to know it is in dependable condition. Stay safe tonight!!!

Where in northern New Jersey and what kind of problems are you having? Bergen County covers a wide area. We have several active and very knowledge members in New Jersey and one or more maybe close by and able to help you out plus willing to come to your location or be pretty close for you to get the bike to their home shop.

and always remember, "Ride until you rot!"
**Really not sure if the Big "C" is back right now
but having to face the fact that this is a lifetime routine
going forward. Five operations done and it still continues.

Sorry for the delayed response guys-- I am about 10 min from Hackensack in Bergen County, and honestly its been one thing after another-- most recent has been a hard start with a lot of back firing and battery quick to die (brand new) I think I have it fixed after finding a loose ground but we shall see--

I have a done a lot of repairs-- which both of you have been kind enough to help me with!! I do want to do a couple additional mods at this point but between lack of tools, and lack of time, I don't really want to go it alone-- I definitely need to check the rear tire / the rim is almost black from what I think is a spline leak-- I also would like to have the carbs cleaned and maybe do an ear shave, I am also smelling gas again (I had initially found gas in the oil) I am hoping that cleaning the carbs would fix this, but really most importantly though I just want to know that it will start when I get a couple hundred miles from home and turn it off for more than 5 min...
