ride-up on a deer

it was the middle of the day around noon on a sat. i was riding on a back road in nepa. from a distance i saw something in the middle of the road. i then droped down my speed as i aproached the unwanted road rodent. i came up to it & made a complete stop. it was a 4 point buck in velvet standing stairing at me for a few seconds before bolting. anyone ever have that happen to them with a deer or another animal?

I had one close call where I was cruising down the road, when suddenly I had the dreaded "Out of Gas, But Not Really" gremlin attack my bike. Saw a good place to pull-off, so I pulled over and stopped.
Just as I stopped, a deer shot across the road right where I would've been if I hadn't have pulled over.

My buddy had an even closer one with a crow. It was on the side of the road, enjoying some road pizza as we came up on it. We both figured it would've taken off by the time we got to it, but it didn't. Atleast not until my buddy was right next to it. As it took off I thought for sure it hit his helmet 'cause he ducked as it flew off. I later found out that if he wouldn't have ducked, it woulda hit him.

Then there's the dirtbike......many ground hogs, rabbits and a turkey or two tried out running me there.
They didn't make it.
I usually wont try to miss little creatures when off-road. But if it were a deer, I probably would.

Two years ago I was cruising about 45 mph going up a bridge when a large dove started flying toward me. I was sure it would fly over me, but it didn't. The darn thing hit me right in the face! Good thing I was wearing a FF helmet at the time. It felt like I was hit with a football, almost knocked me over. A guy in a convertible was just to my right, and he was cracking up!! When we stopped at the light we had a great laugh, at my expense, of course!

passed 3 deer today, two crossing the road out here in the hills. one on the highway but he had already been hit and what a mess he was all up the road. luckily I was in the lane he wasn't as I was wearing dress pants, shirt and tie. had a jacket on but that wouldn't have saved my pants.

Glad you were able to avoid a fall. Too bad the deer couldn't.

I had one run across the road in front of me, probably about 25 feet or so away, at about 6pm on a side street. Scared the hell out of me, and nowhere near a place you'd expect to see one. I had no warning, he didn't peek out from behind the trees, or stroll out and then run, he might as well have dropped out of the sky. LOL. Fortunately for me and my bike, he was alone, and it'd be just fine with me to not have it happen again.
