On tha slab

Took my bike out on the hi-way. Tried to hold it at 70 mph. Seems to prefer 75 to 80 (as the speedO reads). Seems to handle the speeds quite well. At 85 to 90mph, i'm reminded about the fact that my wheels aren't balanced.

How is your's on the slab?

Mine seems to prefer 75-80 as well. She is comfortable at 100 but i don't like the RPMs bein that high. I have rode my father-in-laws '02 sportster a few times and it is a different animal at those speeds, shakes so bad I can't see anything but blurs in the mirrors.

mine handled really well at 67 last week! too bad I was in a 45 and a state trooper seen me! There goes $120.00, the wife says I am grounded. If you see an 86 750 for sale on here don't buy it, she's trying to sell it out from under me!

LOL Careful out there!!

Yeah Kay, these bikes do seem to like a spirited speed.
Guess that has something to do with the power plant originally being slated for a Ninja.
Enjoy the speed the Vulcan can do, but as I said to Wib, you be careful too!

I am by far no speed freak, I like to cruise. the road I was on used to be a 55 and probally still should be, 45 is just too slow. I just didn't realize I was going that fast. I usually do about 5 over the limit if I'm trying to get somewhere and just cruise speed limits if I'm just wandering around. if I feel a little froggy I can find a spot to open it up for a minute but not too often.

Dunno yet; I don't trust the tires. They're next on the bikes "to do" list.

I'm interested to find out though, especially without a sixth gear....

Yeah, i'm getting better at watching my speed and I can disregard the occasional temptation to over do the limit.
And you have my word, WIB714...If I see a 86 VN750 for sell it's hands off. giggle

Good call, Doug I would wait until you get the tires replaced if they look old.

Opps, didn't see that the first time.

Have had mine up to a tad over 115 or so. Had the plexy III shield on, so it probably coulda done better.
I usually cruise at 70 or so on open roads. I feel nice & comfortable with the bike at that speed.
