model differences

This may have been asked before, what is the differences between the VN750 A1 and A2, A3 and so on?

Not much, only the brake master cylinder was changed from square to round. The A1, A2 and so on are for what markets they were made for, ie: US, Canada, European, or General. The California( C ) model has more pollution crap on it.

Yes, most of the differences were small cosmetic things. Chrome finish on the seat rail, and on the gauge cups and side covers. Paint of course...Country differences were placement of the turnsignals. Some Euro models had chrome front fenders.

Mechinical differences were few...the above mentioned front brake master cylinder (and lever) ...the use of Allen head bolts on the carb drain screws, stock tires (some came with Dunlaps, some with Bridgestones)...

For as many years it was produced (1985-2006) it's in fact surprising how few changes were made compared to other long running models.

The A1 is the first model year of production, 1985.
A2 is '86, A3 is '87 and so on.

The internal shift rod (not the proper name) was beefed up slightly, think it got a larger diameter rod but still had the same ends. Somewhere around the year 2000 or so.
