Thank You

I had reservations about this bike and still kinda do after reading all the issues with it. So far I have dumped the ears, coastered and thankfully rewired the coils because it wouldn't start and backfired like a damn civil war cannon. I take her out for the test ride in the am/pm to make final adjustments. If all goes well I may just keep it instated of flipping it like I originally thought of doing and actually putting my talents to work and making her a custom. Well thanks everyone for your posts in issues and fixes, I know there's more to be done but for now let's roll.

Great to hear. I love how these bikes kinda sneak up on someone. First you think " this will be a fun project I can make a little cash on". Then it becomes too fun to let go.

My experience so gar has been like this. I met a guy selling a "bike" for $800 on the train in California. I told him flat out that I'll buy it sight unseen (providing it actually runs) rode it around a week and had backfire issues and battery dies from cranking it so much to start it. And that's where I'm at now.

I still don't quite get why these bikes are hard to start. I mean, I had good spark on FOUR plugs. Gas is explosive when you spark at it. Seriously. WTF.

I had the hard start and especially the hot start issue with mine when I first got it. The pickup coil mod along with a new AGM battery completely cured it of that.

When I was younger I was afraid I'd die riding. Now that I'm old and falling apart, I'm afraid I won't.

Well I rode it tonight and at times at idle it feels like it running on 1 cylinder and even under power feels like 1 cylinder until you get on it hard then it comes alive, but at higher speeds it does the bog out 1 cylinder thing again. I'm either thinking the carbs need to be tuned and dialed in or there is now too much air coming in. Thoughts?

Mine is doing the same thing.sounds like a leaky carb boot.get a can of starting fluid and spray some on the boots while she's idling .if it revs up on one or the other,BAMMM,ya found it.
