Lightbulb Progress report

First off, let me say thanks to everyone on this board. Without the verses and all the posts here, I would not be able to do some of the things I am going to do / am doing to my bike. Of course, some of these things I would never have thought of doing, but that's not a bad thing (just don't ask my wife). I wanted to post some pics of where I'm at right now, so for your viewing pleasure here are 4:

I know the side covers don't match the fenders or the tank exactly, but it's hard to match a 12 year old fade. Plus I'm not a painter by any stretch of the imagination.... I'm actually pleased with how they turned out. I was unhappy with the way the "chrome" on the gauges and the side covers get growing this nasty stuff that cleaned up easily but kept coming back. So I painted that black. It also matches the voltmeter cup I got from Jeg's which is black. I also painted the meter cover black, but I kinda screwed it up, so I'll have to repaint it. I've ordered the K&N pod filters and will do the ear shave when those come in. I have to order some misc screws at the dealer tomorrow so I'll take the opportunity to pick up some Moly 60 or 70 for my spline lube. I'll post more pics as things progress.

FABULOUS! I tihnk it looks just great - and, from the pics, it's really hard to see if the side covers do/don't match the tins.

Thumbs up More progress to report

So today I managed to (almost) complete the ear shave. Air box is gone and the majority of the crap is moved out. On the plus side, I gave the engine a good cleaning and installed the K&N filters. I also got the tank put back on. YES! Now I have to wait for the crank case filters and the coasters from SCP. I also swapped out the stock signals front and back for some I had lying around. Here are some more pics for those interested.

Before cleaning

Pods are on

Tank is on and the engine is clean(er)

New front signals

New rear signals

Actually I'm going to see if I can skate by without re-jetting. I figure I'm about 2 weeks away from firing her up..... Spline lube tomorrow...
