VRA

Anyone here members of the VRA. Seems to be a absence of chapters in my area, the Ozarks. Anybody ever thought about starting a chapter, dedicated to mainly charity runs? How many members of this site live in the area and are interested in this?

I am a member of the VRA, they have a chapter in Phoenix. Long way from the Ozarks, though I did used to live in the Ozarks when I was a kid. Town called Marshal, AK.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.

Isn't there an absence of pretty much everything in your area, the Ozarks?

If you don't get too many responses here, regardless if you're a fan or not, try Facebook. Their reach is much further than this website's. Try Craig's List too, they can be more effective with local stuff. Also, if you get even a couple responses but learn there is no chapter, start one! Good luck man!

Jerry; I ride through Marshall upon occasion. Go through either Snowball or Witts Spring to take 16 west towards home. Love the back roads in that area. Wolfie, grew up in the west making fun of the foreigners east of the Mississippi. Would hate to become one LOL. Are you still planning your east to west trip?

Sorry bro, I am no where near the Ozarks, but I am one the Original 10 (or charter) members of VRAC, Vulcan Riders Association Canada, and an officer in our local chapter 02-AB-01. 02 indicates Canada, AB naturally is Alberta, and 01 is the first local chapter organized in Alberta --in Lethbridge, population under 100,000.
The Calgary chapter is the provinces 2nd chapter, 02-AB-02. Ha, take that Calgary, pop. over a million. e

We avoided using city or regional names in identifying chapters so as not to give any inference to the senior MCs of claiming territory, as they do with the bottom rocker on a three piece patch (colors or cut).

Our local executive is not as active as we would like to be, due to work responsibilities and health concerns.
Our Prez is a truck driver and summer is his company's busy season.
Our VP had a heart attack last summer, and she has just been finally cleared medically to ride again.
The chapter Secretary got a new job last summer as a safety officer/EMT with an oil company about 6 hours north of here.
And me? Well I am the Treasurer with no funds to administer or dues to collect. However I watch for other Vulcan riders and invite them to check out our website and/or join the local group. Also I have putting up a few posters around town in MC related businesses.

I think we have about 10 or 12 members signed up in the local club, but seem to have trouble getting any of them to join in on group rides when we post a "shout out" for a ride, or putting their names out to stand in elections for positions in club leadership.

I was hoping we would be a more active group this season, but so far it has not been so.

I went to third grade in Witts Springs. Back in '67/'68. The road between Witts Springs and Marshal was all dirt back then, and often impassable when it rained a lot or snowed.
