Kudos to you Pacific Northwest riders! We had our 30th Chicagoland Toys For Tots Parade yesterday here in Chicago. This was my fifth year in a row doing the run with my first two years in 2003 and 2004 the weather was dry, the temps were in the 40's and we had 40,000 to 50,000 riders. For the 2005 Parade the temps were in the twenties with snow and we ended up with only about 900 riders in attendance. Last year it was dry but it was 7 degrees during the run and we only had about 1,500 bikes. Yesterday, after a wicked winter storm Saturday, it was in the high forties with drizzzle and rain and we again only had about 1,500 show up. Despite the terrible weather the past three years, the street we ride on was still lined with well wisher and families for the entire 19 mile stretch of the Parade honking, waving and cheering us on. The Chicagoland Toys for Tots was in the Guiness book of World Records as the largest Motorcycle Parade a couple of years ago, and was even featured on the show "Corbin's Ride On" in 2003, but I am sad to say, that with it always being held on the first Sunday in December and three years in a row now with bad weather, that we might not get back up to those impressive 30,000 plus numbers again......
