camping trip

This will be my first motorcycle camping trip and I'm getting all of my gear together. I want to go hiking at a few places along the way and was looking for some info on what to do with all of my stuff while I'm hiking. I have a big 65 liter backpack that I could bring but would it be alright to just leave my stuff with my bike at a near site or keep it with me. Any help would be appreciated.

Ill be doing an appilachian trail section and car or motorcycle i either leave it with a friend nearby or call a local outfitter and they usually can find someone willing to let you park and then give you a ride to the trailhead.

Are you just day hiking along the way, or are you planning to hike into a camping spot for a night or more?

If you have a way the secure your stuff on the bike, (locking saddle bags?) then I would just leave what you don't absolutely need to take on the hike secured on the bike.

......I'd rather wake up in the middle of nowhere then in any city on earth.
