Oil change?

Darn! Changed the oil today only to find a wafer thin ~1 1/8"th outside dimension, 5/8th" inside metal ring in the oil pan that I drained into? Is this some type of crush gasket? Where does it go? Did I waist 4 quarts of new syn oil?

Thanks....

That washer sits on top of the rubber part of the oil screen. Its the second part to install. Screen first, then washer, then spring. Its so thin that I wouldnt think that you need to install it.

Yea, that's what I thought. I ran the bike for 10 miles after the change and nothing leaks. I guess though that it might play a part in the separation of metal parts in the filter screen though?

What would you do? Leave it and run till next oil change or, drain and re-install?

Thanks Rubline for the timely reply...

I drained and replaced the O ring and re-filled.

its not the o-ring thats missing, its the metal washer right? Its not going to hurt anything if you run without it.
