Friday ride report w/ pics...

I took the day off and went for a 200 mile ride. I started near Smith Mountain Lake where I live, headed through Roanoke to route 311 to Covington. I hit I-64 to Clifton Forge and took Hwy 220 back to Roanoke. It was a great ride and my longest yet. It started out cool and was getting pretty warm by the time I finished 6 hours later.

Here is the route I took. So those wrinkles in the land, those are mountains.

Here is what a lot of the road looked like going to Covington. This is Potts mountain.

Here is my girl checking out the view from Potts Mountain.

Old mill at Paint Bank.

Paint Bank B&B made from an old depot.

Humpback Bridge near Clifton Forge.

The bridge is blocked off so you can't get a car across it, but a bike would slip between the barracades. She wanted to go, but I would let her so she just looked from the parking lot.

And there was wildlife, starting at the trout hatchery. I was craving fish and chips the rest of the day.

Yes Virginia, there are buffalo in Virginia. Unfortunately they are farm animals.

Saw some wild deer and turkey as well, but didn't get any pics.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos from your awesome ride! (I especially appreciated the satellite view in juxtaposition to the boots/tires-on-the-ground view!) Wish I could have joined you...

Hey Great Pics!! Bet it was also a great ride!! Not long back I did a 270 mile day going from Grants Pass to Crater Lake ( Oregon ) and back by way of back roads, Elevation around 7000 ft.
But since I was with a couple of other bikes that did not do too much stopping for the likes of pics I did not post it..... will have to do that ride again just for some pics!!! Gotta love those moutain roads!!
