Rotor Removal

Can someone point me to the thread that shows what is needed to remove the alternator rotor? I've seen one showing a 18X1.5X60 mm bolt and and another thread saying that a few on the VN's came with LH threads but most didn't. The book says it's a 17mm bolt.

Thanks for any help with this.

I think Ol Hoss did a write up on what size that bolt was a couple or three years back. I believe he said he got one at Farm and Fleet, but don't trust my memory very far,I don't !!!

Thanks Denny, GloryRider is coming over tomorrow for a bit of wrench turning and I'd like to try to have that bolt here when he arrives so we can get that darn rotor out.

Anybody else know what bolt size I need?

I found this in a thread elsewhere

I understand that I will need a 80mm x 1.5 x 60mm bolt to remove the rotor

I haven't seen that one but I've seen a 18X 60 mm bolt and also seen 17mm bolt of unspecified length. The old bolt is so tight that I was going to wait until Gloryrider got here to remove it so he could hold the engine while I use 4' of pipe to loosen the old bolt.

fyi: The only LH Thread bolt on VN750's that I know of is the Balance Damper Bolt.
