Question Throttle cable question

The metal "L" like shaped piece coming out of the twist throttle...that the cable goes through... Do you have to have those? With my new bars their creating problems by hitting the speedometer or top of fork.....and it seems tacky.....is there a sleeker cable option.....for the clutch as well?

I wouldn't know for sure, but I would think so.. the imprtant part is that the part of the cable sleave that threads into the throttle tube housing is the same threads.. shape doesn't matter.
