vibrations at higher RPM's

Hey everyone.. I am starting to get vibrations at higher RPM's. I can feel it in my pegs and in my hands sometimes.. if I lean the bike to the right and left I get it more than going straight. goes away when pulling the clutch in. anyone have any ideas what to check.. I have a 5 hr ride coming up friday! Thanks

By the way you explained the problem, it does not seem to be in the tires or the drive shaft. If it goes away when you pull the clutch, then most likely it is in the engine. As for what it would take alot of checking to find the problem. Maybe timing? Not much help sorry. You may try the Sea Foam and see it that maybe a easy fix, at least a cheap one if it works.

What kind of condition are your tires in? Before I got new tires I would get vibration when I banked in a curve; the steeper the bank, the more the vibraton. It got worse as the tires got worse. With my new tires I have no vibration.

Check your motormounts and make sure thay are tight. Other than I would make sure it is good tune.

thanks.. is there a torque specs for the motor mounts? the one by the seat that goes all the way through I moved with a wrench (didn't have one on the other side yet though) without much effort. As far as the tires, this is probably the last season. Got 9K on them. still look good, seem to be wearing evenly but I can see small small cracks starting to form like in the bottom of the tread lines.

The torque specs for the front mounting bolts and right-hand side bracket bolts are: 24 N-m, or 17.5 ft-lb. The sub-frame bolts and nuts are 44 N-m or 33 ft-lb. And the through bolts and nuts are also 44N-m or 33 ft-lb.

That may not be the source of your vibration, but it can't hurt to check those periodically.

I would look into syncing the carbs.
Cindy had a good homemade tool for that.
She can explain it better.

Ok, thanks everyone.. well I've tightened down everything I could see and all seems OK.. If it is indeed a carb "sync" issue does anyone have a pic of the manometer tool? read threads about it but saw no pics. Also, what causes carbs to go out of sync. will it run bad, bike seems to run fine. also, if they are out of sync, what harm will come about if I run like that. I have a 400 mile journey tomorrow.. Thanks!
