Unhappy Idling issues

My 97 vn750 is having trouble idling. She idles just undr 1000rpm on full choke, jumps up to around 1100 on half choke after she's warmed up a bit. But unless I'm giving her gas on the throttle, she won't idle without choke on. This is beginning to be very frustrating. I've tried seafoam which got rid of the sputtering, but nothing more. Could the battery have anything to do with this? It's probably a dumb question, but I'm really new at this and just want to ride already! Please Help!!

By your left knee there is a black knob...
this is your idle adjust control.
Adjust your warmed up bike to idle @ 1100 rpm.

Yes, clockwise...could be that its not even hooked up....but you'll notice too, the idle speed changes from sidestand to level....nature of the beast....

I use my idle adjust all the time in cold weather...I up it a lil to warm it, then when getting ready to ride, sittin on it, turn it down some....keep it lubed well....

Also, how should I get her warmed up? Just leave her on choke till the thermostat reads mid temp?

You probably won't be able to leave it on full choke once it's idling properly.

I have to gradually move it off choke as the rpm rises. I like to to keep the rpm at 2000-2300 for warmup, but as it warms it will kick up to 3000 and I have to move the choke toward open to slow it down.

I was thinking you have a clogged pilot jet, but I guess that depends how the idle adjust works for you. Normal hot idle is around 1100 rpm.
