Plastic Film left on clutch cover

It was either left on by the dealers/or owner, slowly peeling, kind of stuck on, best way to remove

Just thought I'd chime in here since I've actually bought a new clutch cover and "mark". The clutch cover comes painted metallic-silver like the engine. The mark is a thin, round, metal plate with adhesive on the back and clearcoat or clear sticker on the front. There's a notch in the bottom of the mark and cover that is used to make sure the mark goes on right.

So when you are polishing the cover, you are really polishing the thin aluminum plate that is stuck onto the cover.
