Still Riding

I've been riding in all weather this year and I have to say winter riding is awesome. I broke down a week or so ago and purchased heated gloves which I haven't put on yet. Awhile back I bought a pair of handle bar covers and at first they sucked until I spent time putting them on right. Now I only have to contend with cold brake and clutch levers. I think I have a fix for that as I read I can wrap them in some old rubber tubing I have around here somewhere.

I'm wearing a four season mesh jacket. I have a leather but I'm not sure it would hold up in the single digits. It's one of those things you don't try since your current solution works well. The biggest surprise are my boots and balaclava. I was pissed my cheap pair of boots didn't hold the cold our but my other pair does this well. The poly blend balaclava is a life saver. I don't have any complaints wearing this.

My battery is new this winter but it's def a a step slow in starting power. I'm guessing it's the single digit temps. I thought about bringing it in overnight but I'm parked in a lot and putting a battery in at 7:00 AM isn't my idea of fun.

I agree.winter riding is awesome, if you are dressed for it.and you are.too bad you don't have a battery tender or a jump pack.just pull the side covet with the solinoid, put the positive on the side closest to the battery a d ground to the frame or the sissybar mounts.

yes William, my only ride, it's a 2008 vn900 classic LT and I love this bike. It's the perfect size. It rides great. The windshield probably helps out the most. I've ridden in the snow and accross a bit of ice.

Funny thing is I arrive at my job and put the kickstand down. I start to get off and the bike falls on my leg. Thank god I was warm and I had on heavy duty boots. I felt like a cowboy on a downed horse. I couldn't move my leg out. I turned the handlebars and inched myself out. No issues with the bike. It was a stupid mistake and I was tired.

I'm with you Mike. I totaled my car a month ago and it's taken forever for my insurance company to give me my comprehensive-coverage-check. My vn750 has been my only set of wheels.

It's kind of amusing to me bc this past season was my first on two wheels and all these "hardcore" bikers look at me like I have balls made of molten steel when I tell 'em I'm still riding. lol I'm fairly certain I would still be riding even if it weren't for my car trouble.

I had one of my best rides EVER last week when it was 33 degrees out.

I know this is one of the craziest weather years around but I'm thinking I may be able to continue to cruise. My 2001 ford explorer has a beat motor. timing tensioner and a cracked motor something or another. It's going to cost me a few thousand or more to have a used motor put in. The truck ran fine with 140,000 miles (Ford Explorer Sport Trac). Sad really, I want a another truck but will probably have to settle for a car.
