Names

I plan to name my bike when I finally finish her up, I was thinking of a past lover I had/have/miss... Kind of as a tribute to one special lady.
But I'm a firm believer in waiting to see a baby before you pick a name, kind of need to see what they look like. Now this VN700 is my girlfriends bike. What is the history on picking female names? I mean I know I'm a real dude and love to ride a sexy woman/machine and it makes since, but would it be wrong for her to name her bike a male name and refer to it as him?? What seems to be the school of thought on this?

In my personal experience with women naming things they have also given a females name or just referred to item as she.

I think a man would call his bike a man and women's name all at the same. For instance, I named my bike Charlotte. If I was to dump it on wet grass it would turn in to "That SOB" in a moment, which is of the man persuasion. As it is I won't name it,, say, George, for instance. I mean, How do you tell someone you rode George all day Saturday with a group and he perform perfectly all day.

Seriously? Name your bike anything you want. I know guys that named their bikes with male names and girls that used female names. Seen non sexual names like "Invincible" and "Fokker".

Your already a foot closer to crazy by giving it a name in the first place.....(not that there's anything wrong with that..)

^ Yeah, I like to let the bike "tell" me it's name. You have it for a while and something comes to you out of nowhere. Although as Chuck said, no matter what you name it, sometimes it'll just be "you bitch," "SOB," or even "Aw c'mon you dirty hell pig on wheels!!"

What I don't recommend is naming your girlfriends bike the name of your lover that got away. God forbid that ever leaks out on a night after a couple beers...

Let's just say that if I were to name my bike it would be sarah and if my girlfriend found out it would be goodbye.

Google isn't going to put this on the search engine I hope.
