Question air case sawn-off

I rebuild my bike from 2 , an american and a european...

I had many problems to fit or remove the black air-case (stuck between the cylinders and the frame)

After hours of time-lozing I decided to cut/sawn the case in 2...
and then rebuild it with an own-screw-system.
this worked and helped me with a lot off comfort to work on..

buth...
today was my first test drive ,she feels smooth... buth...
when I want to go over 4500/rpm the bike holds in....
It hears and feels like she is drowning.....bloebabloebablu......
I can't give gas the normal way, when I turn more than 1/3 on the throttle
I also have the prob..



now my question,
is it possible that the sawn aircase is (also) a reason for this??
what is the dark side of sawning that thing in 2?
I fitted it well back in it's place buth I think its a little 'leaking' air...

Or isn't this possible? and should I look to the carbs ?
they were perfect cleaned buth unfortunatly I am no engine specialist
would somebody like to give me an advise or a link to an answer?
a guide to fix this?
I hope I can repair this problem my own...
or should I immediatly go to a shop to diagnose it?

I have the manual and the workplace guide, buth it doesn't cover this...

ps; I have continue troubles to upload photos to vn...finally my profile picture works...buth I try to submit some pics to the gallery buth this fails/reacts not at all.. do you use jpg or jpeg file's or what's the best?

Lizzard I would say that if the airbox is leaking air because you cut it in 2 your problem is with that. From how you describe it...it sounds to me the same as if you were to run the bike without the filters on....fine down low but drowned out on air once you open her up....I would first try and seal it up maybe with some silicone or something and see if it solves your problem.

sounds like hose isnt in ear or bottomed out.

That's just how my bike was with the filters on, but no covers. Had alot of trouble above 4000 rpms or accelerating quickly.
So, I'd go with an air leak as the problem too, but double check the vent tube into the right airbox also.

As far as the pics, ya sure they're not too big?

I understand

I'll first make sure the box is 100% closed.
there are minor few differences between an american and the european versions of the airbox-routings and cooling fluid,
like in the verry front of the box , I noticed ,American have a little opening in the left and right corner for a small pipe that go to...??the european system, wich I use , doesn't.
that's closed, Maybe I have to pay more attention to this also...
And , the -I forgot it's name- 'air collector' , at the bottem of the air box, the one I had ,wasn't the same as the american has , the little pipe was not present there....buth that's fixed
I really had to mix different parts from 2 different bikes, you see....

A mission.., buth so far so good, It most be perfectly possible.
I have , I guess to many or to less air , or to many or to less fuel....
the carbs should be ok, buth I'm busy to study the versions to check the sync. again.
It's a matter of details...I guess, I still need to configure
I wish I could show the pics here, buth I will have to make a myspace first or something like that ....
sometimes things just don't work..

It probabbly sounds confusing....

I only had the american engine en it's water-cooling, And an european bike that crasht somewhere 5 years ago.....
I founded a carb in German, an european,and also a manual...in German.... (

and ichhh spriechhe nicht good douijtsz.... :/

Almost my 500'hour working on it buth hey...look what I made...Isn't she beautifull (althought I prefer to call hem 'male' starts like a needle after 6 years , bolth the bikes didn't drive for so long!you wouldn't believe the pics 2 months ago..
I've felth in love for it....

Nice lookin' bike ! Looks really sporty with the shaved seat and short bars.
Looks like you've done alot of work to it. Hope you get the air thing fixed.

One thing you may want to consider since you have cut the air box is to go ahead and do a complete "ear shave" which eliminates the air surge box anyway.

I finally discovered the problem,

It seemed that the T-fittings inside the airboxes prevented my bike from breathing.
these fittings where in my european boxes, while the american engine doesn't need these things. (see the gallery)
So I removed them,and it worked!!
I allowed my bike to breath over 60% more air!
And now he flows into the rpm's!!!

It feels great!
such a little plastic thing buth what a BIG difference now!!!

Thanks to all that inspired me leading to this!
