Talking Got her runnin

It was 60degrees or warmer the last four days here. Meaning I could go riding once I got the bike put back together.

I did the following mods/repairs:

Cleaned the carbs
Ear Shave (with all the little things that go with it)
Degoated and installed Cobra Exhaust
Plug the coaters with rubber plugs from the hardware store
Cleaned all the electrical connections
Polised the metal tubes that connected the radiator hoses to the motor
Painted the Toolbox, Radiator cover, and plastic covers buy the gas tank
Rekeyed the Toolbox and gas tank lock to match the ingition key
Attached my garage door opener to the Hazard button (I no longer have hazzards)
Installed new ACCT springs

Some of the stuff I did over the winter and then worked my but off this weekend getting parts installed (pipes were a pain) so I could ride. Finally I got everything together and the motor started (once I remebered to turn the petcock on).

Sounded good and I got to go for a ride about 15 minutes before the sun went down last night.

Now that I have the bike running it is going to get no higher than 40degrees and rain for the next two days.

Oh well. At least the bike is running again.

Jamie -

That's great news!

What jets/shims did you wind up using ?

Have you ran it through wide open throttle through 7K rpm yet? I have been having an issue above 6K rpm at WOT only.

Pictures available?

Curious.

I used two shims on each factory needle. 40pilot and 140main for both carbs. Was going to use 142 for the rear but the dealer didn't carry them.

When I rode last night ran the bike all the way up to 8500RPM after it was warmed up. I think I was doing about 65mph in 2nd gear. Had no problems. On the high end RPM

Noticed a little surge around 3k somtimes but not sure if that is the jets or I am twisting the throttle a little with out realizing.

I still have some covers to put on and a coulple of things to do before it is done . Hopefully get everything done this weekend and get some pictures posted on Monday.

Wasn't hard. Just need some wire and a soldering iron. If any one is interested I could do a writeup on how I did it.
