Have a good one...Old Dog...
Or maybe we could keep the bond in the family and you just pass it on down to your long lost son, DAD.

The savings bonds mature and stop accruing interest after a certain amount of time. Not sure of the time period, but I have some purchased in the late 80s-early 90s and they've already matured.

I need to cash them before they become worthless when if/when the govt declares bankruptcy.

I suppose there's a chance that bonds from 1918 don't mature like newer ones.

Old Dog, have you checked the BPD website for info? I need to go again to replace one bond that's lost. The Bureau of Public Debt is here in my hometown, George Bush showed up one day to view the I.O.U.s stored there.

Don't know if it has run out or what, it could not be cashed by my uncle many years ago for some reason, but no I haven't checked with the BPD, didn't know there was such thing...lol...

Here is a picture of it...

PS-Look about half way down where it says the principal & interest here of are payable in US gold coin of the present standard value, whatever that means... But it is a GOLD BOND...lol... I really don't understand it, even the dates...
I still keep it in my gun safe just in case it might be worth something as a collectable...lol...

That particular piece may be a whole different ball game. I'd get it checked out. From looking around, it may be worth more as a collector piece than it's gold value.
