Have a good one...Old Dog...
I gonna have to disagree with you using the "get so old', "look", and "what an ass" in the same sentence, Ol Dog.
I find that the older I get the less ass I have. We as men cause our own butt erosion. We scratch it so much as we are growing though the years that it tends to wash away in the shower. Girls use to tell me I had a 'fine ass' but now I don't have an ass. Just am one.

That would solve the back pressure problem.

Me, I like it quiet. The OP that had my scoot gutted the muffs completely. Sounded loud, but like crap. I put some after market baffling in and that made things better. I put Sport Muffs on her and all is good now.

I sometimes hear the car that's coming behind me, which is better cause even with loud pipes they aren't going to hear me with the windows up and the AC and radio on. But that's just me and each to their own. Don't like riding behind someone with loud pipes either.

...now that the peanut gallery has finished chiming in....
...yes...you CAN run straight pipes...the length is what matters...you cannot simply pull the belly and muffs and run it...you'll fry valves....but...if you ran straights all the way to the rear of the tire, with a crossover in place of the belly...then you'll have enough backpressure...contrary to the folderol....
You can also get baffles (short) to fit into the straights (makes them legal then sort of, to a cop anyway) in the same size...
But it CAN be done, and contrary to the canaries, IVE DONE IT...so, you can, but in the longrun, NOT worth the effort....IMO....if theyre long enough, you will NOT lose HP...thats just BS...but let it be noted...needs to be a balance...if you open exhaust, you need to let in more air...ying/yang...you'd need to crapcan the emissions, ears and run weak pods or stacks...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Ol Dog wasn't talking about his own ass when he said looking and thinking "what an ass!" I find the older I get the more I say that...

Dont git me wrong here, as many oft do....I LIKE quiet...thats why I got a pair of filly baffled Snortster muffs fer mine...and I got em balanced with intake like it was the space shuttle....
But I was addressing the OP...and gave him his opts...
See, I dont "preach" stuff as some do on this site...but I ofter options (with experience and facts backing) to the others....not a bad thing, is it ?...this way the person asking can make their own choices...thats a good thing, right ? Else its a Socialist board...lol....(looks to Knife fer comment, lol)...

And I will....

The OP basicly seemed to say he does not like loud bikes..... Yet he said he's thinking of removing the baffles from the mufflers...( they are not tiny catalytic converters in the mufflers that I am aware of ) SO... I'm
A bit confused.

Not sure anyone said "you can't" run straight pipes...(seems you can given just the amount of hellishly loud bikes around here)... I thought the question was just what everyone's opinion was concerning them.

Vary the diameter and the length of a tube and you can easily control flow and backpressure. So straight pipes that work are not impossible to build.

No Socialism here. As evidenced by the constant disagreement of our members on the most trivial things......

i like mine loud, but not neighbor annoying loud.but then again, all my neighbors are bikers.i like a bike to at least have some sort of muffler ,because straight pipes seem to always sound weird to me.it seems like an un baffled muffler has a deeper tone
