First anniversary of "The Professor`s" death is almost upon us

Can you believe that next Wednesday, February 22, 2012 marks the first anniversary of the passing of our friend and "go to guy" Ron Mullinix/lance328. For those who are new to the board in the last year and never had the opportunity to get to know Ron in our little Vulcan family, here is a link to the thread Willysden posted that morning to inform us of "The Professor`s" passing.
https://www.vn750.com/forum/showthrea...%2Bman%3DToday

We have managed to get along without you brother Ron, but it is not the same without your accurate and to-the-point diagnosis and fixs for the vn700/750 problems the members face on a daily basis here.

I`m not sure what the best way is for us to commemorate this sad anniversary, except to re-read the memories that were expressed in the thread link above.
Anyone who lives where you can ride on the 22nd, could put your pegs down in his memory.
Hope you are riding with the angels Ron.

Wow, Time truly slips by too fast. He was one of the most influential members I had ever had the opportunity to talk to. We truly lost a great man when he past. But we do have his wisdom retained here for future & current members to refer to. One thing I WILL say for sure. He knew this bike inside & out!

hard to believe it has been a year already! And although I never met Ron personally I clearly remember what I felt like when I heard of his passing and can only describe it somewhat like a lot of people felt like back in 77 when Elvis died!

This, in itself, is a great way to commemorate his passing. Great post.

Rest In Peace Ron

I have received the benefit of Ron's vast knowledge indirectly numerous times after asking for advice here on the forum. A man that was so willing to give of himself to others will be remembered for many years to come. Loosing him was a great loss not only for his knowledge but for the example of how a truely giving person should live each day. I will be changing the black ribbons that have hung for this past year with my gremlin bell from my front forks on the 22nd and remembering a good man. I am proud to have been a member during his time on this forum.

As Gordan wrote, Ron is riding with the angels, and we should all try to ride on that day with his memory.

and always remember, "Ride until you rot!"

Put my pegs down when I learned of his death. Not sure when, or if, they will go up. He was a tremendous help to so many.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Yeah, Gordon, I was just thinking about this the other day. Ron was a one of a kind and is still greatly missed.

Yeah, I'm still shocked over it. I'd just dropped my bike off to him the Monday before his passing, to have some work done on it. We'd gone out for a ride that day. Was the last time I saw him.

*sigh*

Whatever happened to "Old Yeller", his bright yellow VN750?

You can see it here, in a pic I took of him when he and I rode to Helen, GA, two years ago:

I seem to remember some talk about his brother learning to ride, and wanting to keep "Old Yella".
Can anyone confirm that, or am I just dreaming?

Asbrand, I think Ron`s Vulcan was the `85 model, and thus a 700cc not a 750.
Yup, I was right. Check his sig line on any of his posts.
