vulcan 1/4 mile times

Does anybody know what the 1/4 mile times are for a stock Vulcan 750, and a stock first gen 1500 (BUBF). I'm looking for like magazine test numbers or something. I thought the 750 was just a hair faster.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.

Great. Anybody have numbers on the original twin carb 1500?

94.something mph; don't recall the exact numbers. I've got 'em saved somewhere; prolly on one of my old 'puters. I'll have to go back and see if I can find where I got them from; may take a day or two.

Jim

Edit; found one, from http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod..._val%2087.htm:
Standing Mile 13.5 sec / 155.4 km/h (96.56 mph)
Top Speed 177.9 km/h (110.54 mph)

As per CycleWorld magazine...

This is for the stock 1985 VN700 however :

1/4 [email protected] 13.78 sec. 1/4 mi. speed 94.57 (lots more info like speed for each gear which I wont post).

I'd post the scan of the page, but was pretty poor. And Im sure CycleWorld also tested the 750...might wanna search them...

I need to compare the Vulcan 750 to the original twin carb 1500. I made a bet that the 750 was faster than the 1500 in the 1/4 mile. I just can't seem to find numbers for the 1500 anywhere.

Impressively close, considering the 1500 is exactly double cc's.

Man it frosts my arse to think of almost 10 hp lost to the shaft. Damn that thing, lol.

I like Kanuck's idea as with these specs (who knows how accurate but I bet they're close) it really would come down to rider skill/aggression. It's a more fun way to verify too

Dave

Mods:
Jetted, shaved & coastered
Home made under-tank single filter
Converted ACCT's to manual (thanks wib714)
Dual vac lines on petcock (my cure for ticking)
LED tail/plate lights
Relocated helmet lock to license plate

Added stuff:
Customized hard bags w/ lights
Chrome levers
Hellcat windscreen
LED running lights
Home made 'Vita-Volt' meter
Foot rests on engine guard
Tunes

Hmm....she was on the back when we left.... ??

Thanks a lot for finding that information. I was sure the 750 was a couple tenths faster, and may have been somewhere else. Being that close, it could easily go either way.
