That was a really nice video and his narration was great! I may have missed it, but when did the corporations come in and buy out all the cotton farmers? (In Aroostook County, Maine (up north), Ore Ida came in and bought out all the small potato farmers. Looks just the same as Roby, only colder...). Are you originally from Roby, NR? And how do you make a living there (I'm assuming traveling to work is what most folks do)?

Thanks for sharing - always interesting to see other parts of America. :

I think his info on the corporations buy out the farms is wrong.
I am from deep south Texas. I have been in Roby area since the early 60's. I lived in San Antone from 84 to 96. I moved back to raise our son in a small community.
I travel to work it is a 50 mile round trip. I work at B-line lube. It is located east of the TA in Sweetwater Tx. I inspect, change oil and grease mainly 18 wheelies. We do a few small cages.
Lately the deer have kept me off the bike. I have been using my pick-em-ups to travel to work.

Thanks for the account man, I'm always curious about the town's people live in. Google only takes you so far. Despite being a great forum, it's still the internet. I think that lends toward people not being particularly forthcoming - and fair enough. There are a few exceptions of course, myself notwithstanding. The South is inherently interesting to me due to my lack of experience with it. I've been to Florida several times and took a gig flying oil workers to and from Texas' Southern coast but other than that, not much at all. I have a buddy lives in Texas, maybe I'll invite myself for a week.
