got the bags mounted up ( actually higher and more rearward then in this pic )
but i was asked to go to vargina 1000+ miles just there and back not counting rideing around down there .... my one buddie wants to go visit a friend down there ... heres the problem A my bike just rolled 18000 miles its on the original 1987 stator .b my buddie he only has his on his temps . he has been rideing way longer ( he is 10 years older then me. im 28 ) im all legal i have the endorcment the full leathers helmets yada yada ( saddelmen seat, back rest) he wants to take a different bike then his own he owns a 1980 ltd kz750 turned cafe racer . i tryed telling him his bike would make it though the rider ( him) would not. i think it would be cool if he make it down there though im still hesitant on my bikes original stator . maybe im just thinking too hard . idk any thoughts on this ? uggg the goldwing is looking mighty good in this decision thinking process

Mine has 23,000+ on the original stator with no problems (yet). I would say it's hard to predict when a stator is gonna head south. Doesn't seem to be any particular age or mileage when it occurs.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Knifemaker - LMAO!!!! Ha ha ha ha!

centruynick, nothing personal, but I found your original post here VERY difficult to understand - spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc.

But at least we got a good laugh out of the whole "going to Vargina". Oh man... you can't make this stuff up : )

If there is a choice between a vn 750 and a gold wing on a 1000 mi ride. I would have to opt for the wing, all other conditions being equal. You will be more comfortable, have more power, better luggage capacity and so on. The vulcan is the only bike that has ever left me stranded, and has done so more than once.
When I ride for distance nowadays, the Valkyrie is the ride of choice. When I rode to KY this spring I took the vulcan. Too much pressure on the sciatic nerve for all day rides.
Just my preference. I hope that was the question you were asking?
